Esguerra traces the story of Dora, the patient about whom Freud wrote his famous case study. Dora accuses Karl Kaufmann of molesting her but Freud is convinced she is in love with the man and, more worryingly, later believes that she is 'transferring' her feelings for Kaufmann onto himself.
