Impossible Things Before Breakfast archiveThe season kicks off with Simon Stephen’s darkly magical road trip, T5, directed by Traverse Artistic Director Dominic Hill, a monologue featuring Meg Fraser, whose previous work with the Traverse includes Fall and Nova Scotia, and the film Young Adam. This is followed by Marina Carrs Quartet, directed by National Theatre of Scotland Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone, features one of the 2010 festivals most talked about artists, Cora Bissett. Cora last week picked up a Herald Angel award for her startling play Roadkill. Cora also starred in last year’s festival hit Midsummer a play with songs by David Greig and Gordon McIntyre. The cast of Quartet also includes Irene MacDougall (Beauty and the Beast, Peer Gynt, Dundee Rep); Anne Kidd and Andy Gray. Linda McLeans This is Water envisages interrogations of eighteen people as they pass through a hut on the side of a hill, and is directed by Stewart Laing. The cast features Scottish actor Gary Lewis, who won international acclaim when he played the father of a young boy who wants to become a ballet dancer in Billy Elliot. The cast also features James Anthony Pearson. James played Bernard Sumner in Anton Corbijn's film Control, along with Meg Fraser and Nalini Chetty. Enda Walshs My Friend Duplicity, features actors Niall Buggy and Olga Wehrly from the cast of his play Penelope, currently playing for the full festival run on the Theatre’s main stage. My Friend Duplicity is also directed by Vicky Featherstone. David Eldridges strange short play about the fragility of existence, All Is Vanity, is directed by Zinnie Harris, concluding the season at the Traverse Festival. The cast includes Jane Bertish, Meg Fraser, Mark Lewis and Ian Dunn.
