Details

Kathakali originated in Kerala South India over 500 years ago. It is a spectacular combination of drama, dance, music and ritual. Characters with vividly painted faces and elaborate costumes re-enact stories from Hindu epics. Full of emotion and potent symbolism, Kathakali is spectacularly colourful theatre, drawn from the sacred dance drama in the temple of Kerala, South India. A ritual dance for prosperity, Theyam, which has not been performed in England before, opens the show. Kathakali website.
