Il barbiere di Siviglia. A young English aristocrat arrives in Seville to woo the lovely Rosina. However, she is being pursued by an unscrupulous older man, Bartolo and it is only with the ingenious help of the quick thinking barber, Figaro, that the situation is rescued. Sung in Italian. From October 18th, the Festival again presents the hugely popular Opera Scenes. These offer three different mainstream operas in ninety-minute versions performed in the original language with piano accompaniment, principal characters and costumes. For 2002 the operas are Verdi's Rigoletto, Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Mozart's Don Giovanni. All performances take place in the intimate surroundings of The Barn, White's Hotel.
