Richard Alston Dance Company - Overdrive/Brisk Singing archiveContemporary dance. Richard Alston, Artistic Director of The Place, the UK's leading centre for contemporary dance, is internationally recognised as one of the most influential and inspiring choreographers in British dance. Overdrive is pulsating choreography, inspired by the resonating push of Terry Riley's Keyboard Studies. As the music creates more complicated rhythms, Overdrive sets the whole company in frenetic motion. Brisk Singing is the revival of a work last seen in London in 1998, performed to the baroque music of Jean-Philippe Rameau.
