Grimm's classic and scary tale, but with a happy ending and exquisite live music. Esmiralda, the daughter of a rich miller, plays the cello so beautifuuly that all the farmers' sons from the village fall in love with her. But her father has higher hopes for his daughter's suitor. When he meets a prince by chance, he tells him that his daughter, the apple of his eye, can spin straw into gold. A deal is struck between prince and miller forcing poor Esmiralda to spin until her sweet little fingers bleed and her tears stream down onto the straw thread.
