Details
Britain's biggest and most exciting touring dance company who often tour two programmes at a time. Dancing to a mixture of musical styles they provide enormously watchable evenings. This year, Rambert Dance Company celebrates 85 years at the heart of British dance, and returns to Newcastle with a breathtaking new programme. Artistic Director Mark Baldwin s brand new work, Seven for a Secret, never to be told is this year s must-see performance, adding a touch of magical humour to the Company s repertoire; featuring a gorgeous score based on Ravel s L enfant et les sortileges, adapted by Stephen McNeff, and with designs by Michael Howells. The programme also features the heartstoppingly athletic Monolith, by director of Danish Dance Theatre, Tim Rushton, plus a rare chance to see the romantic Roses by American dance icon, Paul Taylor, described as "serene and unclouded... perfect in shape, dance and music in radiant accord" (Financial Times, May 2011). With music played live by the sensational Rambert Orchestra, the Company s anniversary tour promises drama and spectacle in equal measure.
