Alpana Sengupta is a brilliant specialist of the vivid and mesmerizing Kathak style of Indian classical dance. Since moving to England from India in 1974 she has been a leading pioneer in raising the awareness of Indian dance throughout Britain. Her company of dancers perform work created by Alpana to create new exciting form choreography incorporating folk and other styles. A double bill of powerful and exciting new kathak dance. Each season in the Indian calendar has its own distinct mood and effect that are interpreted through dance presented on stage. From 'Grishma' (Summer) where the mood is of devotion through to 'Shishir' (Winter), the time of harvest and thanksgiving, each season's characteristics are skillfully choreographed accompanied by stunning musical composition.
