Award-winning dancer-choreographer Sonia Sabri is renowned for taking a fresh and individual approach to the Indian classical dance form of Kathak. In this new production, Sabri reveals two parallel aspects of Kathak, spanning from classical to contemporary and East to West. Three contemporary solos, featuring choreography by the pioneering Shobana Jeyasingh and Lisa Torun, take Kathak from the depths of the mind to funky city streets. Sabri then returns to her classical Kathak roots, accompanied by a virtuoso live musical line-up of sitar, vocals and the world-renowned Ustad Sarvar Sabri on tabla. Together dancer and musicians playfully improvise with complex rhythms, building up to a heart pounding crescendo.
