The Odyssey archiveHope, humanity, forgiveness, suspicion, leadership, betrayal, war and revenge. Odysseus is fighting for his right to belong in his own country. He is being held in an illegal immigrant detention centre, side by side with the Trojan settlers he helped to defeat. In a bid to gain entry in to his own country, Odysseus retells stories of his 10 year journey home: the characters, the encounters, and, ultimately, his enlightenment as he begins to comprehend the horrors he inflicted on the people of Troy. This modern adaptation takes an ancient story and places it right at the centre of today's humanitarian crisis, where people are fleeing from war torn countries to protect their lives and the lives of their families, only to be turned away. It is the perfect adaptation for our times.
