Wales's leading dance company. This spellbinding entertainment combines the voice of the legendary James Brown and music from celebrated New York composer Steve Reich. Think jazz, think electro, think cutting edge. Yes. Stijn is back! The Company’s Artistic Associate and co-founding director Roy Campbell-Moore presents a beautiful new creation, Hinterland, working with the gorgeous music by the late Welsh composer Alun Hoddinott. Rich in movement, colour and atmosphere, the work will appeal to audiences on many levels, including the unfolding story of the five dancers. The romantic piece includes sub-plots of anxiety, fun, peacefulness and playfulness. The Diversions dancers truly put their stamp on the music, living within it, dancing to it and expressing unique human personalities. Energy and excitement are guaranteed with the Diversions team working for the first time with celebrated star performer and choreographer, the totally captivating co-founder of DV8, Nigel Charnock. Raised in North Wales, Nigel is a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Nigel’s work called Lunatic will interlink theatre and dance as he explores themes of the night, madness, insomnia and all set against the fascinating 1950s with gorgeous music from that pivotal decade. Set in a dream-time night landscape and dealing with aftermath of the Second World War, the surreal piece is exciting and invigorating, like watching a West End Musical with old-fashioned glamour, edgy humour and funky music.
