Attempts On Her Life archiveMartin Crimp's '17 scenarios for the theatre', shocking and hilarious by turns, are a roller-coaster of late 20th century obsessions. From pornography and ethnic violence, to terrorism and unprotected sex, its strange array of nameless characters attempt to invent the perfect story to encapsulate our time. Ironic celebration of the battle between tragedy and trivia for media space. We never meet the women who links these scenes, but by the end we know her intimately. Sometimes funny, sometimes deeply disturbing, Attempts on Her Life evokes a claustrophobic and eerily familiar world of power and fear.
