Details
The concert opens with the Overture to King Lear by Berlioz, inspired by Shakespeare’s tragedy. And in the second half the Orchestra plays Brahms’s Symphony No. 3, a work of immense power, and described by one of the most influential critics at the time, Eduard Hanslick, as being ‘artistically the most nearly perfect’ of his symphonies.
