Since its inception 28 Years ago, the show has unleashed the sharpest, wittiest and most inventive new comics on to the grand Hackney Empire stage and then on to rock’n’roll comedy stardom: The competition showcases the cream of new comedy talent, letting you see the stars of the future! Russell Brand, Catherine Tate, Gina Yashere, David Baddiel, Matt Lucas, Alan Davies, Ardal O’Hanlon and Ronnie Ancona, are just some of the names who have appeared in previous finals of New Act of the Year.
