Details

A recreation of the sound of the Duke Ellington Band in its prime. Ellington wrote exquisite big band suites based on Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker and Grieg's Peer Gynt. Inspired by these, director of Ronnie Scott's Jazz Orchestra and Echoes of Ellington founder Pete Long has written his own suite for jazz orchestra based on Holst's famous orchestral suite The Planets. Each planet has its own character and solo instrument. The result is unmistakably big band jazz in the style of Ellington, from punchy energy to beautiful tranquility.
