CORONAVIRUS: All UK venues closed on 16th March 2020, work is underway to re-open safely. Some venues are showing on-line productions or outside productions - even a few covid safe internal ones and a number of tours and shows have been rescheduled for later in 2020 and throughout 2021. The rising stars of The Royal Opera's Jette Parker Young Artists programme present Xavier Montsalvatge's delightful El gato con botas. Based on Charles Perrault's well-known fairytale, the opera follows the adventures of a wily cat who decides to transform the fortunes of his impoverished master. It is performed alongside Berio's Folk Songs. The production is a highlight of Meet the Young Artists Week at the Royal Opera House, which provides a chance to see the future faces of opera in the intimate settings of the Linbury Studio Theatre. The week's activities also include a diverse programme of free recitals and a chance to meet the Artists in person. Running time: approx. 1hr 25mins (with one interval).
