New College Chorale archiveSince moving to Shropshire over 30 years ago, Bob Wysome has been a leading figure in the musical life of the county and beyond. This event celebrates this contribution with a programme of largely English music including Sir Edward Elgar's 'Enigma' Variations, aptly sub-titled 'To my friends pictured within'. Vaughan Williams was influenced by Elgar and his Sea Symphony, written almost exactly 100 years ago, became a high point of the English choral tradition and mirrored his admiration for Parry, whose noble Blest Pair of Sirens opens the programme. Proceeds from this concert will be donated to The Parkinson's Disease Society
