Ilan Volkov directs the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in this late masterpiece from the American modernist and the world premiere of Frederic Rzewski's Piano Concerto, with the composer as soloist. English experimentalist John White's Chord-Breaking Machine opens a Late Night Prom of unusual orchestral textures in which the Irish composer Gerald Barry's 2008 work No other people. receives its UK premiere.
