Sinfonia Cymru was formed by Musical Director Gareth Jones and creates a unique platform to launch young players into the music profession at the beginning of their career. What better way to start Sinfonia Cymru’s 2009/10 season than with Mozart’s Symphony No. 39, a work full of autumnal warmth, drama, humour and contrapuntal wizadry. Following this, the orchestra will be joined by stunning, young violinist Jiafeng Chen for a performance of ‘Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5.’ The second half of this concert will contrast beautifully as a celebration of some of the most remarkable, folk-influenced classical music ever written with Copland's masterpiece, Appalachian Spring.
