Sound Affairs produces recordings, tours, performances and concerts of new music, dance and digital art. Sound Affairs celebrates its 20th birthday with a percussion concert featuring the 1923 film Salomé, starring the tempestuous, Russian-born actress Alla Nazimova. Inspired by traditional Arabic ensembles, acclaimed composer Charlie Barber’s new score is performed live by four percussionists with vocal samples and electronics. Adapted from the controversial Oscar Wilde play, the film Salomé is as equally notorious with an abundance of sumptuously fantastic visuals. Following the biblical story of King Herod and his unbridled lust for his young stepdaughter, it is Salomé’s desire for Jokanaan (John the Baptist) that causes her to dance before Herod...
