Steve Winwood archiveSteve Winwood was just 15 when he found fame as the prodigious singer of the Spencer Davis Group. I'm a Man and the monumental Gimme Some Lovein stood among the leading hits of the so-called 'British Invasion'. His next incarnation as the linchpin of jazz-folk-rock collective Traffic was interrupted for the short-lived supergroup Blind Faith (with old friend Eric Clapton), before reconvening for the seminal John Barleycorn Must Die and Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys. After a brief hiatus, Winwood resurfaced, mid-80s, for a prolific solo career, unleashing a string of hit albums, from 1986's Back in the High Life to this year's multicultural melting-pot, Nine Lives.
