A fusion of contemporary and traditional African Caribbean forms, from dancers, drummers and international artists of all ages. Featuring Impulse, Birmingham's own adults' community performance group, Jamo Jamo Arts providing live African drumming and dance from Senegal, ACE Youth Dance Academy and Untold Dance Company from Amsterdam. An international dance double bill, blending modern dance, afro-fusion, martial arts, flamenco and ballet. A Thousand Shepherds - A Thousand Shepherds' is a pilgrimage - a physical and spiritual journey that involves looking inwards and outwards, behind and beyond, to ourselves and those that accompany us. Mana - South African choreographer VINCENT MANTSOE will take you back to ancient times, evoking the spirit and earthy ambience of African dance and Shaman traditions. Focusing on the internal strength of the individual and how this is embodied, as each of us takes our own spiritual journey. Used in over 24 cultures the concept of Mana encompasses spiritual and religious ritual, belief and practice. Identifying those values, journeys and expressions that refresh the soul, inspire us or leave us in awe, yearning for more.
