In Ibsen's poignant drama Ghosts the past returns to haunt the present. With this as her inspiration, choreographer Cathy Marston creates a narrative dance world where ghosts have more vitality than the living. Characters absent from the play take centre stage in a setting with more moving images evocative of the work's Norwegian roots and in an atmospheric layered score of live and recorded music. In her first full-evening work for ROH2 Marston explores themes from her own earlier work - the pressure of the past lies and actions upon the present; choices and obligations faced by the women in society.
