Itzik Galili, was born in Tel Aviv, but has been based in Groningen, Holland, with his own company since 1997. This is a choreographer of romance and contrasts: tenderness and cruelty, intellect and instinct are the extremes he uses to explore the human condition. In his piece Exile Within he bathes this exploration in an almost expressionist light. Membrane is a thrilling as well as physical programme of monumental dance. Its two choreographies show all the elements that characterise Itzik's work - music and dance searching for a way to express an emotion that cannot be explained in words. Grotesque and funny with a dash of wry humour.
