Ours was the Fen Country takes as its inspiration, the stark and beautiful landscape of The Fens in East Anglia. Over two years, Canham made a series of field recordings of those living and working in the fens, including eel-catchers, farmers, parish councillors, museum keepers, molly dancers and conservationists. These recordings form the basis for this new dance-theatre show, which is touring the UK this spring. Canham and his company take the words of Fenlanders and transform them through sound and move?ment into a moving piece which gets to the heart of this mysterious expanse of flat land.
