Orson Welles's only attempt to write, direct and star in a lavish Broadway musical. Labelled 'Wellesapoppin' by one critic, Around The World has a sprightly score by Cole Porter. Accompanied by Pat Passepartout, his Yankee valet, and Missus Aouda, an Indian maiden - and pursued by Detective Inspector Fix of Scotland Yard and Pat's Irish girlfriend Molly - Fogg journeys to Paris, Madrid, Brindisi, Suez, Bombay, Calcutta, Hong Kong, California, the Rocky Mountains, and New York before returning to London and winning the wager. European premiere. Semi Staged Performance. This musical has not been seen since its 1946 run. The musical ran for 75 performances at the Adelphi Theatre New York from 31 May to August 3 1946 incurring huge financial losses.Performers Jack Klaff (Inspector Fix), Valerie Cutko, Peter Gale (Phileas Fogg), Valda Aviks, Brian Torfeh, Michael Roberts, Peter Kenworthy, Richard Stemp.
