The tempestuous story of the lonely, disturbed Fosca whose obsessive passion threatens the happiness of Giorgio and his beautiful mistress, Clara. With a story that focuses on the internal torments of the protagonists set against the lives of a battalion of disaffected soldiers in a bleak frontier town, Sondheim and Lapine's adaptation of a 19th century Italian gothic novella takes musical theatre to exhilarating theatrical heights.
