Peggy Shaw is having hot flushes! 'Menopausal Gentlemen' is a theatrical monologue based on the honest and unflinching meditations of a "virile butch icon, working grandmother" going through 'the change'. She ponders the emotional and physical fall-out of the menopause and the effect this has on her identity as a woman who passes as a well-dressed man in his 30s. Using animal imagery and candid performance Shaw shares the enormous changes she experienced. Shaw has spent the last 30 years at the heart of America's most influential lesbian and gay performance troupes; an Obie award-winning performer she is best known for her work with Split Britches and at W.O.W. Cafe in New York.
