CORONAVIRUS: All UK venues closed on 16th March 2020, work is underway to re-open safely. Some venues are showing on-line productions or outside productions - even a few covid safe internal ones and a number of tours and shows have been rescheduled for later in 2020 and throughout 2021. We are updating our listings as much as possible to reflect the changes as they are reported.

BITE is delighted to welcome back Philip Glass - one of America s most innovative, influential and creative composers - and to introduce Mary Zimmerman, celebrated State-side for her distinctive visual flair and fresh approach to epic theatre. Together they have created a block-busting new opera based on the life of the 16th century scientist and accused heretic, Galileo. I am still trying to write melodies which are truly beautiful and fresh and unexpected. It s very simple: I find playing music and writing music very challenging. It hasn t gotten any easier as I ve gotten older. And after 50 years of composing, that is an achievement in itself. It is still engrossing enough to get me up early and keep me working all day. Philip Glass
