CORONAVIRUS: All UK venues closed on 16th March 2020, work is underway to re-open safely. Some venues are showing on-line productions or outside productions - even a few covid safe internal ones and a number of tours and shows have been rescheduled for later in 2020 and throughout 2021. We are updating our listings as much as possible to reflect the changes as they are reported.

Puccini's only comic opera. The title character is an historical figure mentioned in Dante's The Inferno. Puccini's scheming, comic subverter, Gianni Schicchi, does leave some hope for the future. Whilst his resourcefulness and cunning at times appear to have suspect motivations, Gianni Schicchi assures the happiness of the lovers, his daughter Lauretta, and Rinuccio. Puccini's comic score includes some of his most dexterous and brilliant writing. Sung in Italian with English surtitles. Approx running time 2 hours 30 minutes (with L'Heure Espagnole). New Production

Performers Bryn Terfel (Gianni Schicchi), Dina Kuznetzova (Lauretta), Elena Zilio (Zita), Saimir Pirgu (Rinuccio), Jeffrey Lloyd Roberts (Gherardo), Joan Rodgers (Nella).
Author Puccini (1918). Lyrics Giovacchino Forzano. Producer Royal Opera. Conductor Antonio Pappano. Director Richard Jones. Design John Macfarlane. Costume Nicky Gillibrand. Lighting Mimi Jordan Sherin.
