Hamlet is the only one who knows who has killed his father - the man about to marry his mother! When he alerts the murderer to the fact, he puts his own life in danger. But in a dangerous, nightmarish place where no-one can be trusted, how can he mentally and physically survive to avenge his father's horrific death? Sung in French with English surtitles. Running time: 2 hours 45 minutes. Production du Grand Theatre de Geneve - production new to the Royal Opera House. The opera was first heard at Covent Garden in 1869 and has been give 25 performances at Covent Garden. It was last heard in 1910. This will be the first production of Hamlet by The Royal Opera. The production will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on 24 May.
