Les Vepres siciliennes archiveThe French have occupied Sicily, and H?l?ne is held hostage by Montfort, the French governor, who has had her brother executed. She turns to the partisan Jean Procida and the rebellious patriot Henri in her bid for vengeance. Sung in French with English surtitles. Running time: 4hrs 30mins (with two intervals). Unfortunately the illness that prevented Marina Poplavskaya from singing the role of Helene in the premiere of our new production of Les Vepres siciliennes has persisted longer than expected, and has made it impossible for her to sing the remaining performances. We look forward to welcoming her back to The Royal Opera for further engagements.
