CORONAVIRUS:All UK venues closed on 16th March 2020 and look like staying closed until March 2021 with the exception of a few, patchy, openings (and subsequent closures) towards the end of 2020. Some open-air, drive-in venues have been opened for periods and many shows are now streaming on-line. Sadly, some venues and shows may not survive. We are updating our listings as much as possible to reflect the changes as they are reported.
The Wicked Baronets of Ruddigore have been cursed to do one bad deed a day or die in agony. The current incumbent tries to avoid his duties by disguising himself as a farmer, but he is discovered and forced to resume his title. He does his best to do one "bad" deed a day (like forging his own will) until the family portraits come to life to advise him. With some of Sullivan's best tunes and a typically silly plot, including a corps of bridesmaids looking for a wedding. Ruddigore remains one of the most popular of the G&S operas.Lyrics W.S. Gilbert. Music Arthur Sullivan. Company Charles Court Opera. Director John Savournin. Musical Director David Eaton. Design James Perkins. Costume Mia Wallden. Lighting Finn NcNulty.
