Details

Thornton Wilder's three minute plays are short, pungent morality tales from Biblical and Renaissance sources. Glanert applies a dazzling variety of styles to get to the heart of their contemporary resonance. This semi-staged concert is a first chance for UK audiences to hear the operatic work of this celebrated opera composer. Detlev Glanert's opera Jest, Satire, Irony and Deeper Meaning has received multiple productions worldwide. His most recent, Caligula, was acclaimed as "utterly compelling" (Financial Times) at its premiere in Frankfurt earlier this year.
