Details

Two protagonists are pitched together by Cupid's arrow into a fever of lovemaking. Late 17th Century opera. Vancouver based, Modern Baroque Opera were the first company to perform in BAC's annual Opera Festival, with Le Cinesi. Now resident opera company at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre, the company also continues to work internationally, recently performing at the Bloomsbury Theatre. This production sees the company exploring the possibilities of cross casting with soprano Jennie Such performing the role of Adonis as a female and counter tenor David Lee perform the role of Venus as a male. Sung in Italian with English text incorporated into the set. With a small group of violin, cello and harpsicord.
