CORONAVIRUS: All UK venues closed on 16th March 2020 and there is currently no planned re-opening time though it will not be before 1st June 2020. Some shows have been cancelled, or closed early, but many are being rescheduled and we are trying to keep up with the changes - assume that anything posted for April and May is actually postponed or cancelled. Pantomimes are looking like a safe bet at the moment ;-)

How could anyone resist an opera that opens with a tragicomic funeral for a deceased parrot held by the pupils of a girls' convent school? The girls - this is a French convent so they know a thing or two - decide that their beloved pet must be replaced in some form and select the hopelessly innocent young man Valentin to be the happy recipient of all the doting attention they used to lavish on the parrot. Sung in English. British Premiere

Performers Robert Murray (Valentin/Vert-Vert), Fflur Wyn (Mimi), Naomi O'Connell (La Corilla), Yvonne Howard (Mademoiselle Paturelle), Geoffrey Dolton (Baladon), Quirijn de Lang (D'Arlange), Andrew Glover (Bergerac), Mark Wilde (Binet).
Music Jacques Offenbach. Presented by Garsington Opera. Conductor David Parry. Director Martin Duncan. Design Francis O'Connor. Lighting Howard Hudson. Company Garsington Opera and Chorus.
