Mr Reger, a music critic, had a very peculiar habit. For thirty years he has visited the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna every second day, sitting in front of the same Tintoretto painting. In Alte Meister, adapted from a novel by one of Austria s major writers, four biographers fight to understand their dead hero. As they squabble and compete they study Mr Reger s grandiose speeches about Art and Nature, Life and Death, Heaven and Hell, Happiness and Depression, Austria and the rest of the world... Performed in German with English supertitles.
