Set in a Yorkshire launderette. The village of Meltham is slowly outing the old as the new comes in and things aren't looking great for Wally and Polly. Business is bad, Wally has ulcers, Polly is poorly, and their daughter, Carol, is on another diet. She's just got engaged to Star Wars fan, Marcus, and his whippet ate her cockatoo.
