CORONAVIRUS:All UK venues closed on 16th March 2020 and look like staying closed until March 2021 with the exception of a few, patchy, openings (and subsequent closures) towards the end of 2020. Some open-air, drive-in venues have been opened for periods and many shows are now streaming on-line. Sadly, some venues and shows may not survive. We are updating our listings as much as possible to reflect the changes as they are reported.
Candida is a respectable wife, happily married to socialist parson James Morell. But their world is thrown into turmoil with the arrival of an earnest young poet who openly declares his love for her. Candida finds herself caught between two men, her sensible husband and the distraught poet. For both of them, life means nothing without her. Written in 1895, this is one of Shaw's most enduring plays. Candida herself has been hailed as either the wisest and strongest of female characters, or as 'thoroughly immoral'.Performers Paula Wilcox, Jessica Martin, Miles Richardson, Stash Kirkbride, Roland Oliver, Simon Cole.
