Children of Bisu archiveBisu was the African pygmy who pioneered ventriloquism in Ancient Egypt.. Now the master storyteller and comic genius of theatre, Ken Campbell, brings together devotees of Bisu's art in a brand new farrago of Petriloquism, Polyphony, Engastrimythicism, Knee Mediation and of course Gastromancy (the art of sucking up evil spirits through the 'devil's gate'). Campbell and his collaborators uncover the hidden history of the end-of-the-pier's stock in trade. Spirits enter the body and speak through performer and dummy - occult practices, trickery, groping - in short, all those long-forgotten aspects of talking without moving your lips. This performance contains language and gestures that may offend.
