Details
Written between 1599 and 1601. The play, set in Denmark, recounts how Prince Hamlet exacts revenge on his uncle Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet's father, the King, and then taken the throne and married Gertrude, Hamlet's mother. The play vividly charts the course of real and feigned madness - from overwhelming grief to seething rage - and explores themes of treachery, revenge, incest, and moral corruption. Each member of the company can play a number of characters. Only moments before the beginning of the play will the audience determine which actor plays which part. The only props used in performance will again depend on what objects the audience have brought along with them. All audience members should bring any object of their choosing to be involved in the production. (We don't know what will happen so take no responsibility for damaged props!) Featuring a stellar cast, this production moves secretly around London, playing in exciting spaces (such as Shakespeare's Globe's Bear Gardens, Wilton's Music Hall, The Bridewell Theatre, The Riverside Studios, Hoxton Hall, The Southwark Playhouse, Pleasance Theatre, Hoxton Bar and Kitchen, The Pacific Playhouse, Barons Court Theatre) for one-off evenings, and is generating a lot of excitement with audiences who have been lucky enough to catch a performance so far, many of whom keep coming back to see how it changes.
