Hamlet archiveWritten between 1599 and 1601. The play, set in Denmark, recounts how Prince Hamlet exacts revenge on his uncle Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet's father, the King, and then taken the throne and married Gertrude, Hamlet's mother. The play vividly charts the course of real and feigned madness - from overwhelming grief to seething rage - and explores themes of treachery, revenge, incest, and moral corruption. Based on the first ever published version of Shakespeare's play, Hamlet: first cut promises to be fase-paced Godfather type thriller which fields Red Shift's largest cast ever. Set in an errie futuristic world, this is an enthralling story of revenge, where a striking post industrial landscape of steel obelisks enhances a world which is governed by surveillance cameras and paranoia: Blade Runner meets 1984. Duration approx 2hrs 30mins including interval.
