Hurried Steps archiveA hard-hitting and deeply powerful play, Hurried Steps explores the issue of domestic violence from the personal experiences of eight women. Acclaimed Italian writer Dacia Maraini created this play from stories collected by Amnesty International - as part of the international project Passi Affretatti - to open up a global debate about the impact of violence against women. She comments "In Europe we delude ourselves that female emancipation is a done thing; that women have acquired autonomy and respect in the communities where they live. You only have to go a few hundred kilometres to find that the conditions of women are still catastrophic and based on ignorance and violence."
