Itâs 1854, a time of dizzying change. Liverpoolâs streets are teeming with merchants and new arrivals from all corners of the globe. Every day as the walls of St. Georgeâs Hall grow higher above the city skyline, in the bowels of the city the poor of the cellar slums drink away their fears. Itâs never their time and they know their place. But Millie has other ideas. She has her new Norwegian husband and another child on the way. Sheâs seen the light at the end of the tunnel and sheâs taking her fiery family with her. Sheâs heard of hope and sheâd like her family to taste it, or at least fresh water from their very own tap. And then they can be as pristine and grand as Liverpoolâs new monument to success. Canât they?Author Lizzie Nunnery. Producer New Vic. Director Zoe Waterman.
