Liberace's Suit archiveThe comic-tragedy Liberace's Suit follows the course of American pianist Liberace's 1959 appearance at the Old Bailey in London to pursue a libel action against a journalist from the Daily Mirror newspaper for implying that he was a homosexual. Against the backdrop of the McCarthy era in the USA and the prosecution of several highly placed Naval officer in the UK for homosexual acts, Liberace was forced to defend his reputation and his liberty, exposing the hypocrisy of both Liberace and the times he lived in that forced many gay men to desperate measures. Late Night Magic in the West End follows immediately after the show (until Jun 12) Liberace's Suit website.
