Phil Willmott employs his trademark precision and flair for revisiting classic texts, by transplanting Shakespeare's tale of moral hypocrisy and illicit lust into the white heat of our scandalous colonial past. A tropical storm is threatening to break the stultifying heat. Meanwhile 1930s London is outraged by lurid rumours that the strict codes of English society have broken down and hedonistic sex and luxuriant immorality have become the norm in a far-flung corner of a crumbling British Empire. The incorruptible, cold-hearted Angelo is appointed as the new head of the colony's beleaguered military police and charged with bringing both the natives and ex-pats into line. But when a minister (Andy de la Tour) pays an undercover visit, he discovers a devastating new sexual scandal primed to explode and western officialdom is on a head on collision course with jungle law.
