Details
Moving from the bawdy taverns to the cultured salons of mid 18th century London, James Boswell, the friend and amanuensis of Dr Samuel Johnson, is tortured by his inability to control his desires, especially where women are concerned. He is also fearful of eternal damnation or worse, the loss of his father s allowance. Boswell struggles with a dilemma that he cannot find acceptance both in this life and in the next simply by being himself. He aims to win the hand in marriage of his cousin, Margaret, but the temptations of the flesh ensure that his path towards her will be neither straight nor narrow...
