Office Party archiveFollowing enormously successful seasons at the Edinburgh Festival and the Barbican, Christopher Green and Ursula Martinez bring their site specific interactive Office Party to London this autumn. In the function rooms of a sad and tawdry office block a group of office workers are preparing for the annual Office Party. The managing director is running through the gags for his speech while having a few too many drinks, and the marketing department are in a huddle by the bar. Anything could happen, and it probably will. The cast features the cream of comedy actors and improvisers. Previous performers include stand-up Glenn Wool, Janice Connolly (Mrs Barbara Nice), Petra Massey (Spymonkey), Amanda Haddingue (RSC), Matthew Baynton (Horrible Histories, Horne & Corden). The show was originally directed and co-written with Cal McCrystal, who is currently associate director on One Man Two Guvnors with Nicholas Hytner at the National, and has previously worked with Cirque du Soleil, Mighty Boosh and Sasha Baron Cohen. Office Party is theatre at its most experimental. It incorporates office politics and sharp insights into the world of the workplace all played out during the slightly shambolic, riotous night of the annual staff jamboree. As it arrives, the audience is invited to become the employees of the fictitious company. They become complicit in the goings on as the night unfolds, divided into staff teams, rivalries and tensions come to the fore in truly hilarious fashion. Get involved, or simply observe - the choice is yours.
