Oresteia archiveOrestes is the ultimate tragic figure, caught between his duty to avenge his father's murder at his mother's hand, and the loyalty a son owes to his mother. He kills his mother and is relentlessly pursued by furies. Athena provides the refuge and counsel of healing. This production is a contemporary distillation of all three plays from Aeschylus's Oresteia, one of the great cornerstones of Western drama.
