Rosalind: A Question of Life archiveIn a world of stem-cell research, cloning and designer babies, Esther is determined to make her contribution to science. Resisting the distractions of university is tough, until one evening Esther finds herself with the ultimate time-travelling tutorial - from Rosalind Franklin, the dark lady of DNA. It is a name we should all know, the woman whose pioneering work with X-rays paved the way for the mapping of life itself. But it wasn't Franklin who was credited with discovering the structure of DNA or won the Nobel prize. That honour went to the trio of men who borrowed the fruits of her genius. Given a voice in this brilliant new play, Rosalind - a young woman in a man's world - travels away from her own lifetime and into ours, shelving her bitterness and offering Esther an insight into her life, her research and the politics of being a scientist and a woman.
